Job Details
A mid-level to senior design architect working under Lead Architects and Design Managers plays a crucial role in executing and refining the design vision while managing portions of the project
independently. Their responsibilities blend creative input, technical development, and team
collaboration.
1. Design Development
• Translate Concepts: Develop detailed designs based on the lead architect’s vision and initial
concepts.
• Refine Design Solutions: Propose creative and practical solutions to design challenges.
• Prepare Presentations: Create diagrams, renderings, and visual materials for internal reviews
and client presentations.
2. Technical Documentation
• Drawings and Models: Produce and coordinate architectural drawings, 3D models (often in
Revit, Rhino, or SketchUp), and construction documents.
• Detailing: Develop architectural details, sections, and elevations with a focus on
constructability and code compliance.
• BIM Coordination: Contribute to and manage parts of the Building Information Modeling (BIM)
process.
3. Coordination and Communication
• Interdisciplinary Coordination: Collaborate with engineers, consultants, and other disciplines to
ensure design integration.
• Internal Communication: Act as a bridge between junior staff and senior leadership, relaying
design intent and feedback.
• Client Interaction: Occasionally attend client meetings or workshops, especially for technical or
design clarification.
4. Project Management Support
• Task Management: Take ownership of specific project components or packages (e.g., façade,
interiors, ceilings).
• Schedule Awareness: Work within project timelines and flag potential delays or issues to the
Lead Architect and/or design manager.
• Quality Control: Review work for accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project goals.
• Meeting Notes: Take notes during design meetings and help track action items.
5. Mentorship and Team Support
• Support Junior Staff: Guide junior architects and interns in design tasks, software use, and
documentation standards.
• Design Reviews: Participate in internal critiques and provide constructive feedback.
6. Research and Innovation
• Material Research: Investigate new materials, systems, and technologies relevant to the
project.
• Sustainability Input: Contribute to sustainable design strategies and LEED, Mostadam or local
green building certification
