Job Details
A Junior Design Architect typically supports the design team by handling fundamental tasks that
contribute to the development of architectural projects.
1. Design Support
• Concept Assistance: Help develop early design ideas through sketches, diagrams, and mood
boards.
• 3D Modeling: Create digital models using software like SketchUp, Rhino, or Revit.
• Renderings: Produce visualizations and presentation graphics to communicate design intent.
2. Drafting and Documentation
• CAD Drawings: Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, and details under supervision.
• Revisions: Update drawings based on feedback from senior architects or consultants.
• BIM Input: Assist in building and maintaining BIM models (e.g., in Revit).
3. Research and Analysis
• Site and Code Research: Gather information on zoning, building codes, and site conditions.
• Material Research: Investigate materials, products, and systems for use in design proposals.
• Precedent Studies: Analyze similar projects to inform design decisions.
4. Coordination and Communication
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members to ensure consistency and
accuracy.
• Presentation Prep: Assist in preparing boards, slides, and documents for client or internal
presentations.
5. Learning and Development
• Software Skills: Continuously improve proficiency in design and documentation tools.
• Design Thinking: Learn how to approach problems creatively and practically.
• Feedback Integration: Apply feedback from senior staff to improve work quality and
understanding.
